32nd International Cotton Conference Returns To Bremen

Bremen preparing to again take center stage as it hosts the 32nd International Cotton Conference. The Bremen Cotton Exchange and Fibre Institute Bremen (FIBRE e.V.) co-host the event, which will be held March 19-21 at the Town Hall.

The overarching theme of the 2014 conference will be focused on understanding consumer attitudes and expectations about cotton.  What does the customer expect at the point of sale, and what can the cotton industry do to meet these expectations?

Agenda items at the Conference include the following:

  • Ray Butler from UK-based Cotton Outlook will provide insight on the Chinese cotton market present and future.
  • Mark Messura from Cotton Incorporated, USA, will commence the consumer discussion: What effect do trends in consumer preferences have on the clothing market, and what trends are developing now? Cotton Incorporated is globally active in the field of cotton and the consumer.
  • With used effects, specially damaged fabrics and an increased interest in “vintage”, the requirements at the point of sale are varied, ranging from individual items of clothing through to conformity. It is now possible to achieve extreme and numerous effects, but this can also lead to corresponding problems. Bernhold Emme Zumpe, WKS Textilveredlungs-GmbH, Germany, will focus on the issue of equipment in fashion.
  • Ciro Rosolem from the Sao Paulo State University in Brazil will explain what external influences cotton is subjected to during its growth phase. With a set seed quality, this can in time affect the quality of the fibre.
  • Sustainability in production, textile processing and garment use, which is becoming increasingly important for the consumer, will also be a focus of the conference.

From cotton cultivation, through processing and equipment to everyday comfort, analyses, insights, research results and solutions, Bremen will provide many answers and perspectives. For more information visit the Conference website.
