Bayer May Sell Some Cotton and Canola Assets in Monsanto Deal

In a recent news report from Reuters, Liam Condon, head of Bayer’s Crop Science division, said that Bayer expects to sell some cotton and canola seed businesses to help allay antitrust concerns about its acquisition of Monsanto.

Condon was quoted as saying, “In North America, the combined market share in cotton is indeed quite high. We anticipate that parts of this business may have to be divested. Another strong market position will emerge in canola.”
