Cotton Board to Highlight Denim Recycling Program during Mid-South Farm and Gin Show
January 30, 2014 If you’re planning to attend the Mid-South Farm and Gin Show February 28-March 1, bring your old used denim with you. The Cotton Board wants it!
The organization will hold a Blue Jeans Go Green denim drive during the two-day event at the Cook Convention Center in Memphis, TN, with those donating their old denim earning a chance to win a $300 Cabela’s gift card.
“We’re asking visitors to the Gin Show to bring their old denim, no matter what shape it’s in,” explained Brad Robb, vice president of communications for The Cotton Board.
Visitors to The Cotton Board’s booth (1024/1025) can drop their donated denim into bins and enter their chances to win.
“We say ‘chances to win,’ because each piece of denim donated equals one entry,” said Bobby Skeen, Mid-South regional communications manager for The Cotton Board. “The more denim you bring, the more entries you get. And that increases your chances of winning.”
After the show, the donated denim will be converted into UltraTouch insulation by Bonded Logic, a leading manufacturer of natural fiber insulation. The insulation will then be provided to building organizations working in communities in need, often in areas affected by natural disasters.
The Blue Jeans Go Green denim recycling program – which recently collected its one-millionth piece of used denim – is also sponsoring the NASCAR Nationwide series Blue Jeans Go Green 200 in Phoenix, AZ, the same weekend as the Mid-South Farm and Gin Show.
