Crunch Time for Cotton Insect Management

Mid-South cotton growers are entering a critical window for managing insect pests in cotton. The crop is setting bolls, and it is harder to recover from significant boll injury than it is to compensate for early season losses.

According to Scott Stewart, University of Tennessee Extension entomologist, immature plant bugs, stink bug and bollworm infestations may all coincide during mid-flowering, and he offers suggestions for treatment options that growers may need to consider.
