First 2017 Bale of U.S. Cotton Delivered in South Texas

According to a report at TheMonitor.com, the official certified first bale of cotton in the U.S. for 2017 was delivered by Wyatt Agri Products to Harlingen (TX) Gin Company at 12:18 pm on June 6.

The seed cotton was picked north of Edcouch Elsa and weighed in at 1,680 pounds. After ginning, the bale of cotton will be delivered to the Harlingen Area Chamber of Commerce as part of their First Bale Auction and Scholarship Fundraiser on September 14.

Wyatt Agri Products operates multiple Texas farming entities, primarily in the Rio Grande Valley and along the Nueces Strip. The company received a $3,000 award for the first bale.
