2016 Seed Showcase – All-Tex and Dyna-Gro

From Cotton Grower Magazine – November 2015

For the All-Tex and Dyna-Gro seed brands, 2016 will be a year of exciting transition. The two sister-brands, both under the Crop Production Services ownership umbrella, could feature as many as eight XtendFlex varieties in the coming season. Those would add to a lineup that already features several trusted B2RF varieties.

The 2015 season was a good one for Dyna-Gro and All-Tex, which together captured 10% of the sizable Southwest region’s acreage, and 7% of the national market.

Dyna-Gro had two varieties that featured XtendFlex technology in 2015, including Dyna-Gro DG 3385 B2XF and DG 3109 B2XF. Both were well-received in the market.

“The DG 3109 B2XF is an early maturing variety that is great for late-planted or replanted fields,” says Cody Poage, operations manager for All-Tex and Dyna-Gro. “Then the DG 3385 B2XF is a medium-maturing variety that has done well everywhere – in Georgia, in the Mid-South and here in Texas, it is a true workhorse. Everyone here in Texas talked about how well it came up, even through the rough weather we had at planting in west Texas. It performs well on dryland and irrigated acres.”

Poage says All-Tex and Dyna-Gro will still have good seed supply for all of their B2RF varieties that were available in 2015. But, he says, the XtendFlex varieties his company will introduce soon will outperform their B2RF-based predecessors.

“It’s exciting to think about the stuff we’ve got coming forward,” Poage says. “The All-Tex variety Nitro-44 B2RF is one that right now has some of the best length in the market, and we have stuff coming out that’s even better. We have varieties in the pipeline that will have Pima-range fiber quality, even though they’re Upland varieties. So there will be new, exciting stuff coming out in the next several years.”
