Direct-to-Grower Independent Seed Company Launched
October 20, 2017 A direct-to-growers seed company is entering the market with the mission of providing growers with custom-crafted seed offerings delivered right to the farm.
Local Seed Company, headquartered in Memphis, TN, is an independent company that will offer a diverse portfolio of competitive, quality products and genetics at the local level. Growers will have access to diverse germplasm and traits options in cotton, corn, soybean, wheat, rice and cover crops selected through locally-focused research and development.
The company will service growers throughout the Southeast, Mid-South, Northeast, Delmarva and Atlantic Coastal regions.
The formation of Local Seed Company is the result of majority investments in Dulaney Seed, based in Clarksdale, MS, and T.A. Seeds, located in Jersey Shore, PA. The company will maintain operations at both locations, with capital improvements and expansions planned in the near future.

Michell will lead Local Seed Company as CEO, supported by Chism Craig (product development and field R&D), Reed Trusty (sales and marketing), Bo Rhea (recreational seed and wildlife management), and Chris McCracken (cover crops development).
