Watch for Bacterial Blight in Cotton

Bacterial blight – which has become an almost annual occurrence since 2011 – can potentially result in substantial yield losses in susceptible cotton varieties. The disease generally begins in the lower canopy and moves up the plant.

Bacterial blight has recently been observed in several locations throughout Mississippi. The Mississippi State University Extension cotton team has provided scouting tips for identifying blight, as well as possible management options.
