New Product Evaluators

Nearly 200 farmers are evaluating the Deltapine Class of 12 variety candidates in the NPE program this season. The variety candidates include six products ranging from early maturity to full maturity varieties that are being tested across the Cotton Belt. The candidates are developed not only for high-yield environments, but for tough acres as well.

Farmers participating in the Deltapine NPE Program were given pre-commercial varieties to plant for evaluation on their farms, in their growing conditions and yield environments. By allowing the individual farmer to control all crop management aspects of the trial, the progressive producers are helping to identify the top-performing varieties for improved production and profitability in their region.

Seed production was put in place on all variety candidates this year so limited supplies of planting seed for the Class of 12 varieties will be available in 2012.

Naming of the Class 2012 will take place at a gathering of NPE growers in Charleston, SC, on December 10.

All Deltapine Class of 12 variety candidate seed was treated with Acceleron Cotton Seed Treatment Products, which is exclusive to Deltapine varieties.
