It's That WWW Thing
This edition of CottonGrowerExtr@ is all about the wonders of the internet. Or as David Letterman calls it, "That WWW thing."
The first Cotton Grower Trait Talk event of the season was held in Memphis on January 15. Speakers included Dr. Bill Robertson and Dr. Don Parker of the National Cotton Council, and Dr. Bob Hayes with the University of Tennessee Extension Service.
The U.S. cotton industry was the first market to experience the biotechnology effect full force. In the span of a decade, everything from crop protection input rates to tillage to scouting regimens has changed. The goal of Trait Talk is to bring public-sector authorities on transgenic traits - like Bill, Don and Bob - and pair them with trait experts from Monsanto. In Memphis, that was Bob Montgomery and Walt Mullins.

There are three more events scheduled for Jackson, MS; Greenville, NC, and Lubbock, TX.
The Greenville date is March 5, at the Hilton Hotel, with Lubbock set for March 25, at the Holiday Inn Lubbock Center.
The date for the Jackson, MS, event is, uh, well, fluid at the moment. Originally set for February 6, it has been tentatively rescheduled for Thursday, February 21. But for certain is will be held at the downtown Marriott. Details will be made available as soon as possible.
