What's on Your Mind?

Okay, I admit it - when it comes to the current Farm Bill, I'm as dumb as dirt. Or lazy. Probably both.

Despite the major, major ramifications, I just haven't had the energy or the motivation to keep up with the endless Farm Bill negotiations because, quite frankly, they seem to change daily. What I read yesterday in all probability will not apply tomorrow. Could I just get a copy of the Cliff Notes when this is a done deal? If they'd just extend the 2002 Farm Bill for another five years and go home, I'd go with them and the chips, dips and beer(s) would be on me.

The new day's news is sort of like waking up in a stupor. Peter Frampton sang about just that better than I can write it: "Whose wine, what wine, where the hell did I dine?"

Do you feel like I do? Well, if you do, here's what we're going to do about it: Cotton Grower has an in-person interview scheduled later this month to discuss the Farm Bill with a high-ranking cotton industry insider, and we'd like for you to be involved. What are your specific questions and/or concerns about the Farm Bill? Let us know at interview@cottongrower.com and we will include your thoughts in our interview with the potential to appear in an upcoming issue of Cotton Grower.

You won't be shocked when we reveal who the interviewee is, but let's not spoil the fun for the moment. And just so you'll know, I won't be asking the questions. That's a good thing.

And the winner's are ...

Prize winners of drawings held at the Cotton Grower booth at the Mid-South Farm and Gin Show were:

Mary Ann Dunham

  • $50 Gift Card to Bass Pro Shop, Jamie Unruh, Columbus, MS.
  • $100 Gift Card to Bass Pro Shop, Libby Kendrick, Brownsville, TN.
  • Little Red Boll Buggy from Short Line Manufacturing, Mary Ann Dunham, Batchelor, LA.
