300 Participants Attend First Egypt International Cotton Conference

More than 300 participants from Italy, Germany, Japan, Thailand, Sudan and Egypt attended the First International Cotton Conference, conducted by the Egyptian Cotton Research Institute.

The two-day conference – sponsored by the Ministry of Agriculture, Agriculture Research Center, USTER, Loptex and Aqualab – focused on “Challenges to Sustainable Cotton Production and Quality.”

Conference speakers – including Dr. Abd Elmonem El Bana, president of Agriculture Research Center; Dr. Mahmoud El Bagoury, chairman of CATGO and the government commissioner at ALCOTEXA; and Dr. Amal Saber, director of the Cotton Research Institute – covered multiple topics such as:

  • Improving cotton production and marketing
  • Contamination in cotton
  • Future vision for Egyptian cotton
  • The role of quarantine in protecting agriculture products
  • The effect of climate changes on growth and yield of cotton
  • An outlook for cotton ginning in Egypt
  • International activities for standardization and harmonization
  • Measuring cotton quality
  • Measuring neps and trash inside cotton.
