Jack McCarty Named ICAC Researcher of the Year

Dr. Jack C. McCarty with the USDA Agricultural Research Service at Mississippi State University has received the Researcher of the Year award for 2016 from the International Cotton Advisory Committee (ICAC).

McCarty received the honor during the World Cotton Research Conference-6, which was held in Goiânia, Brazil, in May.

Dr. McCarty is an agronomist/breeder whose research concentrates on cotton’s genetic diversity, conversion of photoperiodic races to day neutrality and germplasm enhancement for improving yield and fiber quality. In addition to his work with ARS, he also serves as an adjunct professor at the Mississippi State.

The ICAC began its recognition program for cotton researchers in 2009. As this year’s award recipient, McCarty will speak at the 75th Plenary Meeting of the ICAC, which will be held in late fall in Islamabad, Pakistan.
