# Registration Underway for Cotton Ginning Cost-Share Program Author: Jim Steadman Published: 2016-06-20 Canonical URL: https://www.cottongrower.com/cotton-news/registration-begins-for-cotton-ginning-cost-share-program/ --- Just a friendly reminder that registration for the USDA Cotton Ginning Cost-Share program is now underway at local Farm Service Agency (FSA) offices. Eligible cotton producers have until **August 5** to register for a one-time payment to help offset a portion of their 2015 crop season ginning costs. **No extensions for registration will be granted.** Under the program guidelines, payments – which will be made available shortly after an individual signs up – will be calculated by multiplying certified cotton acres times the regional payment rate times a producer’s share of the crop. Certified acres represent 2015 planted acres (including failed acres) for upland and ELS cotton. Cost-share payments are capped at $40,000 per individual or entity and do not count against the 2014 farm law payment limitations. To be eligible for a cost-share program payment, each applicant is required to be a person or legal entity who was actively engaged in farming in 2015, who complies with conservation compliance provisions, and whose three-year average adjusted gross income does not exceed $900,000. Additional program details – including the regional ginning costs/payment rates per acre – are available on a [National Cotton Council fact sheet](http://www.cotton.org/issues/2016/upload/16cgcsfact.pdf) or from local FSA offices.
