This week, the report shows that 8% of the U.S. cotton crop has already been harvested, thanks mostly to Texas (19%) and Arizona (11%), with smaller percentages in Louisiana and Tennessee. Boll set is reported at 98%, with open bolls now present in 43% of the crop – up 11 percentage points in the past week, putting the crop slightly ahead of the 5-year average for this week. In terms of crop condition, 29% of the U.S. crop is rated good/excellent, 30% fair, 23% poor, and 18% very poor.
