Biologicals Report: Biologicals and Sustainability

Sustainability seems to be part of just about every discussion involving agriculture today. And biological products will likely play an important role in the acceptance and success of these efforts.

In the cotton industry, transparency from the store shelf back to the individual cotton field is now being driven by consumer demand and curiosity. It’s what the U.S. Cotton Trust Protocol is striving for. And it’s why major corporations like Wrangler, Levi Strauss, Gildan, and many others are prioritizing sustainable goals to be met in the near future.

Some of those sustainable measures are tied to crop inputs, soil health and the total carbon footprint of individual farms. One of the possible additions to row crop production in coming years is an increased emphasis on the use of biologicals. When major manufacturers like BASF, Bayer, Syngenta and Corteva are exploring and investing in development of biological tools to help manage existing in-field production issues, it’s only a matter of time before change begins to come to market.

In Meister Media Worldwide’s recent Biological Crop Protection & Plant Health Report, developed across the company’s multiple industry publications, Jackie Pucci looks at how biological innovation in row crops can help improve sustainability efforts and improve the image and understanding of agriculture among consumers.
