Australia Issues Mealybug Management Protocol

In association with cotton researchers and the Queensland Government, Cotton Australia has issued a protocol for the management of mealybugs, an exotic pest found this year in Central Queensland and the Burdekin regions.

According to Cotton Australia: “The protocol is based on the industry’s Come Clean Go Clean policies regarding farm hygiene and also includes a special permit for the use of Pulse, with which to wash down farm machinery. This permit was strongly supported by results of an evaluation of several candidate products against mealybugs conducted by researchers at Qld Department of Employment, Economic Development and Innovation in Toowoomba.”
