More Than 500 Participants Gather in Bremen for International Cotton Conference

More than 500 attendees from 40 nations participated in the 32nd International Cotton Conference held in Bremen, Germany March 19-21.

The conference, organized by the Bremen Cotton Exchange and the Fibre Institute Bremen, provides an international forum for discussion of various topics related to cotton. Held in the historic Bremen Town Hall, this year’s program covered a variety of subjects, including scientific lectures, a fashion show, and a panel discussion on water consumption.

“In recent years, we have moved from being a very specialized scientific conference and opened ourselves up to current issues,” said Fritz Grobien, president of the Cotton Exchange. “This was a necessary step in order to adapt to changes in the textile industry. We can now bring the most important people in cotton to Bremen and increasingly include the textile chain.”

Ernst Grimmelt, vice president of the Cotton Exchange, said, “We are extremely pleased with the response from the strong foreign participation and with a conference program that was received very positively. We will continue to emphasize the high level of the presentations in the future.”

Numerous industry working groups also met in Bremen in conjunction with the International Conference, including the Association of European Cotton Traders; the Panel on Social, Economical and Ecological Performance on Cotton Production; the International Forum for Cotton Promotion and the Executive Board of the International Cotton Association.
