Woods Wins $12,000 from Phytogen
Gerald Woods of Stanton, TN, is perhaps now one of the greatest PhytoGen fans, after winning the Best Yielder Club contest. By entering the PhytoGen fan club and sharing his experiences with planting PhytoGen brand varieties, Woods won $12,000 towards a lease on a pick-up truck.
Woods was one of hundreds who joined the Best Yielder Club shortly after the contest began. In his entry he commented on how his choice of PhytoGen brand PHY 375 WRF outperformed the competition on his farm.
“My 375 had more consistent grades, and the yield was as good or better than the other cotton variety I planted,” he says.
Woods, who has been farming cotton for 24 years, began growing PhytoGen cottonseed about three years ago, after searching for “something different.” He says the PhytoGen varieties performed well in university and local trials, as well as at his neighbor’s farm. He plans to add about 200 more acres to the 2,500-acre cotton operation. Woods and his wife, Dana, and his father, Gerald Woods, Sr., farm approximately 4,500-acres.
Woods purchases cottonseed from Midsouth Farmers Co-Op in Brownsville, Tenn. When contest officials learned that Woods had recently purchased a new pickup truck, PhytoGen elected to present Woods with a cash payout of $12,000.
Upon joining the Best Yielder Club, all new members receive a high-quality “Best Yielder” knit shirt and baseball cap. For more information, or to read more about other producers’ experiences with PhytoGen® cottonseed, visit www.PhytoGenYields.com.
