Videos Track Performance of New NexGen Varieties

Americot, Inc. is running a series of on-line videos tracing the field performance of its two new NexGen brand varieties – N G 4010 B2RF and NG 4012 B2RF.

The “A Walk Through the Season with NexGen” videos chronicle the progress of these Bollgard II/Roundup Ready Flex cottons in a grower’s field located 10 miles west of Ropesville, TX.
“We began following these two unique varieties in early May,” explains Americot sales representative Doug Fairbanks. “We’re growing them in six-acre plots using industry-standard NG 3348 B2RF as a check. NG 4010 B2RF and NG 4012 B2RF will be commercially available in 2011, so we want to provide an opportunity for cotton growers to become familiar with them. Farmers and consultants can go to the Americot website – www.americot.com – and watch the performance of these varieties from start to finish. We’re partnering with a grower-cooperator so what you see is real world results.”

The series will encompass several installments, and he first three are already on the website. The first in the series was produced after emergence in early May.

“This series is an exceptional way for growers to learn how NG 4010 B2RF and NG 4012 B2RF perform under a grower’s normal production practices,” Fairbanks says. “We provide monthly updates on heat-unit accumulation and the production practices that the grower has used up to that time. Viewers will learn everything that has taken place in that field, including seeding rate, irrigation, fertilizer, plant growth regulators—all the way through harvest.

“We’re really excited about the way NG 4010 B2RF and NG 4012 B2RF are performing this year. For example, their verticillium wilt tolerance is extremely good. Both varieties emerged quickly, grew off well, and are loading up bolls. This series is another example of Americot offering great products to great people – U.S. cotton growers.”
