Cotton Inc Debunks Food Babe Cotton Claims

Cotton Incorporated recently took on the Food Babe to debunk her unfounded statements about cotton and cottonseed. Forbes magazine applauded those efforts.

In mid-May, Vani Hari – a blogger known as the “Food Babe” – posted her opinions proclaiming cotton as the “world’s dirtiest crop” and touting the potential dangers of cottonseed and cottonseed oil in the food chain.

Recognizing Hari’s reputation as a fear monger and opportunist with little to no regard for scientific facts, Cotton Incorporated went on the record and turned her statements inside out to refute every claim being made.

Forbes noted Cotton Incorporated’s actions and applauded them (and their “bolls of steel”) in a recent article, praising the organization for taking a positive, yet defensive, stand against the Food Babe where many other companies have not. It’s an interesting look at what can happen when facts confront exploitation of public fear.
