Bremen Cotton Exchange Announces Personnel Changes

For the first time in more than two decades, the Bremen Cotton Exchange will be bringing a new cotton expert onto the team. That’s because Wilfried Neumann took his well-deserved retirement on February 28, 2011.

“We very much regret the loss of such a remarkable cotton expert,” says Elke Hortmeyer, who handles public relations for the Bremen Cotton Exchange. “However, at the same time, we are pleased to announce that we have closed the resulting gap with en equally competent professional, Mr Karsten Froese.”

Another personnel change is on the way in less than a month. On March 31, 2011 Bremen’s long-time Executive Director Jan B. Wellmann will leave the association to concentrate on other areas of business. Wellmann guided the fortunes of the Bremen Cotton Exchange and represented the association on the international cotton floor successfully for 25 years, Hortmeyer says, adding that he also was the leading coordinator during Bremen’s adoption of the Liverpool Rules and has significantly influenced the increasingly closer cooperation with the International Cotton Association.

“In Bremen, there is still a powerful team at the industry’s disposal,” Hortmeyer says. “For some time now, President Jens D. Lukaczik and Vice President Fritz A. Grobien have been addressing themselves more and more to the tasks of managing the Association. Our long-time employee, Carmen Wachs – previously responsible for finance, human resources and controlling — has become the Interim Executive Director.”
