Meister Media to Close Cotton International; Strengthen U.S. Emphasis with Cotton Grower

Meister Media Worldwide has announced the closure of all business activities for its Cotton International title.

The recently published 2014 Cotton International Annual will be its last print edition, and digital products exclusively serving global cotton also will be discontinued.

The company cited the structural transformation of the global cotton market and the business transition of both the merchant and mill communities to a vertically integrated, multi-commodity focus as factors directly impacting Cotton International with its singular focus on cotton.

“This is a bittersweet moment for both Cotton International and Meister Media, as we have served the global cotton industry for nearly a century,” said Gary T. Fitzgerald, chairman & CEO of Meister Media Worldwide. “Cotton International, and its predecessor Cotton Trade Journal, have been the global voice for the cotton trade and a fixture at industry events around the world. However, the world of cotton has fundamentally changed, and we must shift our resources to other agricultural markets we serve around the world which now offer greater opportunity.”

Fitzgerald added, “We thank all the strong supporters of Cotton International through the years and the generations of families who have been so welcoming and who joined in our efforts to advance the interests of cotton around the world. We will miss these many friends, and we wish them all the best.”
