NCC Sets P.I.E. Program Tour Dates for 2024

The National Cotton Council (NCC) has scheduled dates and locations for two Producer Information Exchange (P.I.E.) Program tours in 2024.

Launched in 1989, the program has enabled more than 1,200 U.S. cotton producers to go to Cotton Belt regions other than their own where they learn about their peers’ innovative production practices.

This year, producers from the Mid-South and Southeast will see farming operations in California during the week of July 28-August 2. In the second tour, set for August 4-9, Southwest and West producers will travel to the Southeast and observe farming operations in Georgia.

Sponsored by BASF through a grant to The Cotton Foundation, the P.I.E. program has a goal of helping U.S. cotton producers maximize production efficiency and improve yields and fiber quality by gaining new perspectives in such fundamental practices as land preparation, planting, fertilization, pest control, irrigation and harvesting; and by observing diverse farming practices and unique ways in which other resourceful producers have adopted new and existing technology.

Another program benefit is the level of interaction that the participants have with the producers they visit on the tours and with producers from their own region that they travel with during the week.
