The U.S. Cotton Trust Protocol announced on World Cotton Day that it had increased producer participation to include more than 1,000 members since the program’s launch in 2020.
This follows the announcement that the program had doubled the number of U.S. cotton producers participating in the program with an estimated 1.1 million acres enrolled.
World Cotton Day highlights cotton’s role in providing jobs and maintaining economic stability to communities around the world. It is also a time to highlight cotton’s sustainability progress and to celebrate America’s cotton producers for being at the forefront of innovation, quality, and responsible stewardship.
The Trust Protocol’s vision is to set a new standard in sustainable cotton production where full transparency is a reality and continuous improvement is the central goal. The program’s core values include a commitment to U.S. cotton’s legacy of authenticity, innovation and excellence, environmental stewardship, caring of people, and personal and corporate integrity.
The program currently has more than 900 members across the supply chain, including mills and manufacturers, and brands and retailers such as Ralph Lauren Corporation, Gap Inc., Levi Strauss & Co., and J.Crew.
Cotton Companion: Button Up Farm Finances As Planting Nears
Trust Protocol enrollment remains open online for any U.S. cotton producer to enroll their 2022-24 crops. Producers should be able to complete all enrollment requirements in one session in an improved process that ultimately allows bales by participating producers to be uploaded into the Protocol platform in a timelier manner. Data entered in the program is secure and confidential, only being used in aggregate form. Producers can also authorize crop consultants to enter information and ensure accuracy on a producer’s behalf.
Producers with enrollment and other questions about the Trust Protocol can reach out to the Grower Help Desk at growers@trustuscotton.org.
