Just over a year ago, Cotton Incorporated went live with a new Website – www.WholeCottonseed.com – in an effort to increase demand for cottonseed among dairymen.
A new feature on the website has now been added called “Cottonseed Marketplace.” This feature connects buyers and sellers of whole cottonseed and puts cottonseed information at the fingertips of dairy producers.
Now, in addition to learning where to buy, feed or store cottonseed, they can use a simple online form to request quotes from participating merchants. Interested buyers simply visit www.WholeCottonseed.com, click on “I am a Buyer,” complete and submit an online request form to provide sellers with preferred quantities, delivery time frames and contact information.
As a result of the Texas drought and reduced supply, new crop cottonseed prices have remained strong and dairymen have become more price conscious. This new feature allows buyers to get several offers with one click.
In the first month, 27 requests for offers were forwarded to participating cottonseed merchants representing almost 20,000 tons of cottonseed. Only merchants who are members of the National Cottonseed Products Association (NCPA) and/or the Cottonseed & Feed Association (CFA) – a meaning they abide by strict trading rules – may participate in Cottonseed Marketplace.
