Cotton – The Natural Choice

April 22, was Earth Day. Founded to increase the focus of environmental awareness, Earth Day was a great opportunity to showcase Cotton Incorporated’s ongoing efforts to promote cotton as a natural, sustainable, responsible and renewable fiber.

A recent Cotton Incorporated consumer-directed survey revealed that while most consumers care about the environment, they have trouble understanding the terms used to differentiate one “green” product from another.

To increase consumers’ ability to identify natural 100% cotton products, we developed the new Natural trademark. This latest version of the Seal of Cotton trademark is very timely and will remind consumers that cotton is a natural part of their lives.

Cotton Incorporated also teamed up with Good Housekeeping for an Earth Day-related event called “Go Green Expo,” held at the New York Hilton Hotel. The event featured many of the latest eco-friendly products and services offered by retailers and manufacturers.

The month was rounded out with a special seminar featuring Dr. Kater Hake, Cotton Incorporated’s vice president of Ag Research and Good Housekeeping’s Director of Research, Kathleen Huddy. Through efforts like these, we continue to position cotton as the fiber of choice with consumers across the world.
