Monsanto’s Roundup Ready Weed Management Programs Reach Cotton Market

As glyphosate resistance management remains at the forefront of the crop protection community, cotton farmers are looking for new programs to help combat the problem and reduce crop losses.

MANA Crop Protection announced that three herbicides in its cotton portfolio – Cotoran, Cotton Pro and Direx 4L – will be included for grower incentives under the 2012 Roundup Ready PLUS Weed Management Solutions program.

Used alone or in combination with other herbicides for season-long weed control, these products are recommended under the Roundup Ready PLUS program to combat Palmer amaranth (pigweed) and other weed species known for resistance issues specific to glyphosate, MANA said.

“Over the past two years, we’ve witnessed increased demand for pre-emergence residual herbicides. Not just to prevent early weed competition, but to address weeds showing signs or confirmed for glyphosate resistance,” Dave Downing, herbicide product leader, MANA Crop Protection, said in a statement.
