Is A New Dicamba Decision Eminent?

Re-registration of dicamba products was already on the docket for the Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) for this fall, even before the Ninth Circuit Court of Appeals vacated the labels for Bayer’s XtendiMax, BASF’s Engenia and Corteva’s FeXapan herbicides in early June (the label for Syngenta’s Tavium herbicide was not vacated but does expire at the end of 2020).

So where do things currently stand with the re-registration process? In a recent interview with RFD-TV, Reece Langley, Vice President, Washington Operations for the National Cotton Council, indicated that a decision may be coming soon.

“We’re continuing our work with the EPA as they are developing a new, updated label for dicamba herbicide for over-the-top use during the growing season on both cotton and soybeans,” says Langley. “We’re tracking this very closely. EPA Administrator Wheeler noted recently in some public comments that they are hoping to get this label finalized and issued publicly by or before the end of October.”
