Cotton harvest is starting to get downright monotonous.
For the fourth consecutive week, the USDA Crop Progress report for the week ending Nov. 21 shows that U.S. cotton harvest, on average, increased another 10 percentage points. The crop now sits at 75% harvested – four percentage points over the 5-year average for this week.
Ten states reported double-digit increases of their own – Kansas (up 17 points); South Carolina (up 15); Oklahoma (up 14); Arizona (up 13); Alabama, Georgia, and Virginia (all up 12); North Carolina and Tennessee (up 11); and Texas (up 10).
Seven states – Arizona, California, Kansas, Missouri, North Carolina, Oklahoma, and Texas – are now reported at or ahead of their respective 5-year averages.
