Texas Tech Receives intexcon Innovation Award for International Collaboration in Technical Textiles

The Texas Tech University Nonwovens Laboratory and Jayalakshmi Textiles were awarded the intexcon Innovation Award, sponsored by the intexcon conference and Indian Technical Textiles Association, for their collaboration in technical textiles research.
The honors were presented to Dr. Seshadri Ramkumar of Texas Tech and Arunkrishna Srinivasan of Jayalakshmi Textiles by Rajeev Saxena, Jt. Secretary, Ministry of Textiles, Government of India, during an award function in Ahmedabad, India on Oct. 22.
The award-winning collaboration helped establish the value-added advantages of cotton in certain technical textiles applications.
Ramkumar also presented a lecture on “Cotton and Advanced Textiles” as part of the conference, which was organized by Nirav Shah of Diagonal Consulting (India).
Meeting attendees included R D. Udeshi, former President, Polyester Chains, Reliance Industries, Ltd.; Dr. P. R. Roy, former Group Chief Executive (Textiles), Arvind Mills; Dr. Arindam Basu, Director General of NITRA; Pragnesh Shah, Director of ATIRA; Thulsi Patel, National President of the Textile Association (India); and Dr. Ashwin Thakkar, Chair, Textile Association (India) Ahmedabad Unit.
