NCC Supports Executive Action to End De Minimis for Commercial Shipments
In a statement issued July 30, the National Cotton Council (NCC) stated support for the executive action announced by the Trump Administration to eliminate the de minimis exemption for all commercial shipments entering the United States, effective August 29.
The organization notes that this decisive move addresses a critical issue that has undermined fair trade and the competitiveness of American industries, including the cotton and textile sectors.
“This executive action is a positive step for American manufacturing and agriculture,” says Patrick Johnson, NCC Chairman. “Ending the de minimis loophole levels the playing field and strengthens our domestic supply chains. We appreciate the Trump Administration’s efforts to increase our global competitiveness.”
