Cotton Australia Maps Nation’s Cotton Fields

Cotton Australia is inviting the nation’s growers and consultants to go online to map the placement of this season’s cotton fields. The new www.cottonmap.com.au website is part of Cotton Australia’s campaign to reduce damage to cotton crops from 2,4D drift this season and is jointly funded by the Australian Government’s Cotton Research and Development Corporation (CRDC), Grains Research and Development Association (GRDC), NuFarm and Cotton Australia.

Mapping will allow surrounding neighbors to check the placement of sensitive cotton fields before applying phenoxy herbicides that may drift and cause damage to crops.

Users can simply go to the website, follow the prompts to plot their cotton fields onto the map of their farm, then save their work. They will be prompted to register when they hit “submit.” To ensure security and minimize misinformation, users will receive two administration e-mails: the first with a link to verify who they are and the second with their login details. They can edit or add fields with their login, but must log out after each submission.
