Cotton Yarn Market in China Is Slow, Prices Are Sliding

It has been a quiet week in the Chinese cotton yarn market, with few transactions and little movement. With an increasing number of spinners trying to lighten their inventories, cotton yarn prices continued to slide further.
On June 1, among major varieties, the average price of open end 10S was $2,865 per ton, down 0.68% from last week, and down 26.55% from the same time last year. Average price of polyester cotton yarn 45S was $3,450 per ton, down 0.43% from last week and a decrease of 22.75% from last year. The average price of pure cotton combed yarn 40S was $5,105 per ton, down 0.45% from last week and 20.96% from last year. The average price of pure cotton carded yarn 32S was $4,251 per ton, down 0.42% from last week and 18.33% from last year.
Grey fabric price indices showed that on June 1, the price index of CGC32 (pure cotton grey fabric) was $1 per meter, down 0.31% from last week and 12.6% from the same time last year. The price index of CGR30 (synthetic cotton grey fabric) was $0.88 per meter, down 0.56% from last week and 15.83% from last year. The price index of CG JC40 (pure cotton combed) was $1.49 per meter, down 0.33% from last week and 15.78% from this time a year ago. The price index of CGT/C45 (polyester cotton grey fabric) was $0.84 Yuan per meter, down 0.58% from last week and 20.92% from last year. The price index of CGOE10 (denim) was $2.32 per meter, down 0.07% from last week and 37.4% a year ago.
