GCA to Focus on Support of Domestic Textile Industry

At the Gdynia Cotton Association’s (GCA) 71st General Assembly, held May 18, 2012 in Sopot, Poland, the Assembly endorsed the Board of Directors’ report on their activity in 2011, passed the 2012 budget, and provided direction regarding the activities and initiatives that need to be accomplished during the current reporting period.

In the Directive Resolution, GCA reinforced the necessity of supporting the Polish sector of textile industry in the light of changes triggered by globalization, the continuing recession in developed markets, and disturbances in the raw material markets.

Wolfgang Vogt-Jordan, former President of the Bremen Cotton Exchange, took floor as the Guest of the General Assembly. He underlined the longstanding cooperation between the two associations and expressed hope for its continuation in the context of establishing the ICA Bremen Centre for Cotton Testing, Research and Quality Related Issues.

Marek Radwański, president of the Polish Chamber of Flax and Hemp (PCFH), thanked GCA authorities for supporting the PCFH initiative to revitalize the flax industry in Poland through the establishment of a national programme entitled “Innovative Polish Flax.”
