ITMF Annual Conference to Showcase China Cotton

The 2009 Annual Conference of the International Textile Manufacturers Federation is set to take place October 23-25 in Shanghai China. The meeting, hosted by the China National Textile and Apparel Council (CNTAC), will showcase China cotton and textile markets from around the world. Representatives from the China Cotton Association, Chinese Academy of Engineering and several Chinese cotton holding companies headline the general sessions. Keynote Speakers for the conference include Gerhard Schroder, former chancellor of Germany (1998-2005) and Prof. Edmund S. Phelps, Nobel Prize in Economics (2006).

On October 26, conference attendees are invited to visit cotton mills in Keqiao, Shaoxing County, Zhejiang. Known as “China Textile City,” the area is home to markets that amass all kinds of fabrics including those for garments, home textiles and industrial textiles. It is the largest textile professional market in Asia, and the biggest trade center around the world. In its 20-year development, the area has formed four distinctive textile trade platforms: a Traditional Trade Zone, an International Trade Zone, a Market Innovation Zone, and a Textile Raw Materials Trade Zone.
