Kenyan Farmers Feel Effects of Falling Cotton Prices
Global cotton prices have dropped 43 percent from $1.78 per pound to $1 per pound since 2011, and Kenyan farmers are feeling the effects, according to Fibre2Fashion.
Cotton farmers will not see the producer price increase past $.76 (65 Kenyan shillings) per 2.2 pounds (1 kg).
The Cotton Development Authority (CODA) advised revising the price paid to cotton producers down to $.58 to $.64 (50 to 55 Kenyan shillings) per kilogram.
