Lineup Set for Georgia Cotton Conference

The speaker lineup for the third Annual Georgia Cotton Conference has been confirmed and features something of interest to all growers and others in the cotton industry.
The conference will be held Jan. 27, at the University of Georgia RDC in Tifton.

The speakers are as follows: Eddie Smith, chairman, National Cotton Council, “Report from the Council”; Kater Hake, vice president, Ag Research, Cotton Incorporated, “A Perspective: Pro & Con of Conventional Varieties”; Andy Warlick, vice president & COO, Parkdale Mills, Inc., “A Manufacturer’s Viewpoint of the Textile Industry Today and in the Future,” and Allen McLaurin, president, Southern Cotton Growers, “A Message from Our SE Regional Organization.”

Featured in a panel presentation, “Best Seed Options for 2010,” are Dave Albers, U.S. cotton germplasm manager, Monsanto; Steve M. Brown, cotton development specialist, Dow AgroSciences, and Steve Nichols, U.S. agronomic manager, Bayer CropScience. Following the presentations, the panelists will take questions from the audience.

Producers present are eligible for a door and grand prize drawings. Co-sponsors, to date, include Bayer Crop Science; Case IH Agriculture; Crop Production Services; D&PL; DuPont Crop Protection; John Deere; Phytogen; Southeast AgNet, Triangle Chemical Co. and Valent.

The conference will begin at 7:30 a.m. Workshop concurrent sessions are from 8:00 a.m. through 9:50 a.m., and the Commission’s annual meeting program is from 10:00 a.m. until 1:00 p.m., followed by lunch. Tentatively, the afternoon workshop sessions are from 2:00 p.m. until 4:10 p.m.
