Tornadoes Rip Mississippi
Saturday afternoon, a series of tornadoes ripped through central Mississippi leaving 15 counties with substantial damage from wind, hail and water. Ten people were left dead.
This picture of the tornado that hit Yazoo City, MS, was taken from Panther Swamp National Wildlife Reserve, several miles north of Yazoo City, in the Mississippi Delta.
By any standards, this is a gigantic tornado.
Mississippi Gov. Haley Barbour, who grew up in Yazoo City, described the scene in town as, “utter obliteration.”
The National Weather Service said the tornado tracked from west of Tallulah, LA, to northeast of West Point, MS.
