Uzbek Cotton Fair Begins October 14

The International Uzbek Cotton Fair will be held on October 14 and 15 in Tashkent. The Government of the Republic of Uzbekistan has hosted this important world cotton market event annually since 2005. Uzbekistan is the world’s fifth largest producer of cotton.

According to the organizers, fair participants will be able to sign contracts on Uzbek cotton, set up long-term cooperation in cotton trading, become familiar with the characteristics of Uzbek cotton and the latest innovations in trade and logistics, and participate in a cotton trading session on the Uzbek commodity exchange. The Fair will also feature roundtable discussions and bilateral negotiations between Uzbek cotton exporters and consumers.

During the Fair, leading international experts from the world cotton and textile industries will address such issues as:

• World cotton market (supply and demand, prices and factors)

• Current state and prospects of production and marketing of cotton in Uzbekistan
• New technologies to increase cotton competitiveness
• World market for cotton textile (present and future)
• Investment climate and foreign investors in cotton and textile industry of Uzbekistan
