World Cotton Research Conference to Focus on Technology

The World Cotton Research Conference (WCRC-5) will be held for the first time in Asia (Mumbai) for the first time ever from November 7-11, 2011 with the theme, “Technologies for Prosperity.” Held every four years, WCRC-5 brings cotton researchers together not only for a discussion about science and technology’s impact on commercial crops, but also to persuade policy makers to modify the funding patterns of research and development.

Scientists from nearly 30 countries will be participating in discussions on topics ranging from biotechnology, breeding, cotton husbandry, input use, physiology, protection, abiotic stress management, harvesting, ginning, fiber quality issues, economics, marketing, textile research, cotton byproduct utilization, and technology transfer.

The five-day event will be held at The Renaissance Mumbai Hotel and Convention Centre. Previous WCRCs have been held in Greece, Australia, South Africa and the United States.

All submitted papers and posters will be peer-reviewed and selected based on their ability to advance international understanding of production research, ginning, economics and textile research issues. For more information, please visit the World Cotton Research Conference Web site.
