Crop Progress: Overall Cotton Harvest Now Ahead of Schedule

In USDA’s final Crop Progress report for 2021, cotton harvest shows yet another 10-percentage point jump up to 85% complete across the Cotton Belt – 6 percentage points ahead of the 5-year average for the end of November.

The week’s leaders in harvest increases were led by Kansas (up 23 points), South Carolina (up 13), Texas and Virginia (both up 12), and Oklahoma and Tennessee (both up 10). Six states – Arkansas, California, Louisiana, Mississippi, Missouri, and Tennessee – are reporting between 90% and 100% complete, with six others (Alabama, North Carolina, Oklahoma, South Carolina, Texas, and Virginia) more than 80% harvested. In all, nine states are now reported ahead of their respective 5-year averages.
