All-Tex

In 2009, All-Tex will focus mainly on three varieties. Two are Roundup Ready Flex only and one is a Bollgard II/Roundup Ready Flex selection.

Apex B2RF is the double-stacked variety that is widely adapted. “It’s a variety that does great from the (Rio Grande) Valley to West Texas,” says All-Tex general manager Cody Poage. “It’s just one of those that is consistent and is right there all the time.”

Orbit is one of the Flex only varieties. “It does fine in West Texas,” Poage says. “But it does better from the Blacklands to the Valley.”

Patriot + is the second Flex-only variety that is more suitable for West Texas.

“We have a ton of varieties coming that are just phenomenal,” Poage adds. “We’ll have a little bit for testing in ’09 and hopefully will have some commercially available in 2010.”

Also, All-Tex still offers conventional varieties. “We have three that we will probably narrow down to one,” says Poage. “The Corpus Christi area still has about 50% of the acres still planted in a conventional variety.”
