Earlier in the conference, Gao Fang, executive vice president of the CCA, addressed the state of the Chinese cotton industry. She said China is “not optimistic” about this year’s cotton crop after many farmers delayed planting by 10 to 20 days because of low temperatures in the major growing regions. Overall, output is expected to be the same or slightly higher than last year, she said.
