A Quick Question for You

Some of you are still picking and I know acreage for 2010 is probably the last thing on your minds at the moment, so I’ll keep it short.

The annual Cotton Grower CottonAcreage Survey is released in our January issue, and that’s the one we always take to the Beltwide Cotton Conferences. This year, Beltwide is in New Orleans, January 4-7.

What we think makes our survey interesting and unique is that it’s the first of the year, followed by the National Cotton Council in February and USDA in March. Our survey establishs a baseline. Obviously prices will help dictate acreage. For example, last year at planting, cotton was around 44 cents per pound. On the New York Cotton Exchange yesterday, the 2010 November contract was right at 77.50. That’ll change between now and planting.

But what do you think cotton acreage will be in YOUR STATE in 2010?

The survey is based on what you tell us – the more responses, the more accurate the survey tends to be … and I always like hearing from you.
