BASF’s Sefina Insecticide Approved for California Cotton

BASF’s Sefina insecticide is now registered for use in California for control against piercing and sucking insects such as whiteflies and aphids in cotton, cucurbits and other crops.

“Whiteflies and aphids can cause costly damage to both the quality and yield of these crops,” says Chad Asmus, Product Manager, Specialty Crop Insecticides. “Sefina insecticide targets these damaging insects while being gentle on pollinators and beneficial insects, which will be especially relevant for cotton and cucurbits this season in California.”

Utilizing Inscalis insecticide – the only active ingredient in the Insecticide Resistance Action Committee (IRAC) mode of action class 9D – the chemistry disrupts the sensory responses of target insects to quickly stop feeding, limiting the spread of damage and/or the transmission of vectored pathogens. It is not a restricted use pesticide and does not carry a RUP label.
