2007 Retailer Precision Adoption Survey At A Glance
Precision agriculture technology got a real boost from the development and evolution of GPS steering. The impact has been clear, but it’s not been the agronomic benefits that have driven this technology. It’s been more about improving efficiency.
In the 11th annual CropLife® magazine/Purdue University/Trimble Precision Adoption Survey, that was definitely the case. GPS steering was the big technology mover, jumping from just over 6% to more than 20% adoption among the ag retail community. All technology use is shown in the chart at the right.
Another positive sign was that retailers anticipate significant increase in precision agriculture technology service offerings in the next two years. The charts below indicate that while use of the technology at the dealership has been flat, these retailers plan to bring more precision services to the market.
