Cotton Variety Trial Data for 2019 Now Available from Several States

Cotton variety trial data from several state testing programs is now available online.

University of Arkansas Extension Cotton Agronomist Bill Robertson and UA System Division of Agriculture Cotton Breeder Fred Bourland have released lint yields from their county testing program evaluating 11 varieties at 10 locations, plus preliminary two-year yield data from the 2019 Arkansas Official Variety Trials. Mississippi State University Extension Cotton Specialist Darrin Dodds has also released the final data for small plot official variety trials (OVT) as well as large plot, on-farm variety trials. Official variety trials were conducted at eight locations in 2019 and on-farm trials were conducted at 17 locations. The MSU information can be found here.

At North Carolina State, Extension Cotton Specialists Keith Edmiston and Guy Collins have posted links to information from their 2019 On-Farm Cotton Variety Evaluation Program, plus preliminary results from the NC State 2019 cotton official variety test – including two- and three-year averages and results across all testing locations.

University of Tennessee Extension Cotton Specialist Tyson Raper notes that the 2020 TN Cotton Variety Guide is now available online, including summary tables from the five 2019 Official Variety Trials and nine County Standard Trials scattered throughout Tennessee’s cotton producing counties. This report serves as a precursor to the complete Variety Trial Results which will be published after all remaining samples have been ginned and classed.
