EPA Extends Comment Period for Proposed New Dicamba Registration to September 6
The U.S. Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) said it is extending the public comment period for proposed registration for three end-use dicamba products for broadleaf weed control in dicamba-tolerant cotton and dicamba-tolerant soybeans.
The comment period, originally set to expire on Aug. 22, has now been extended to Sept. 6, 2025.
In announcing the proposed registration on June 23, EPA expressed particular interest in feedback about the temperature-dependent volatility mitigations, percent of field treated restrictions, and any science-backed solutions to manage volatility.
In an interview on Cotton Grower’s Aug. 13 Cotton Companion podcast, Stanley Culpepper, University of Georgia Extension Weed Specialist, helped break down the various aspects of the proposed label and urged growers, consultants, and others in the industry to make their voices heard during the comment period.
“The docket contains 21 documents,” explains Culpepper. “The one document that growers need to pay attention to is Memorandum Supporting the Proposed Decision to Approve Registration for the Uses of Dicamba on Dicamba-Tolerant Cotton and Dicamba-Tolerant Soybean – primarily pages 28-35. These pages are the proposed label requirement.
“If you’re a grower, consultant, or agent, that’s where we need your help,” he says. “I know EPA regulators want input from growers.”
