New Webcast Targets Resistant Ragweed Management

A new webcast – titled “Herbicide-Resistant Common Ragweed Management in Cotton” – has been added to the Focus on Cotton online series from the Plant Management Network and Cotton Incorporated.

Excessive reliance on glyphosate to control ragweed has allowed resistant varieties to flourish in cotton production systems. This new webcast helps cotton growers, consultants, and other industry experts diversify management practices and herbicide applications to better control ragweed populations.

This 27-minute talk by Charlie Cahoon, Virginia Tech Extension weed specialist, was developed to help users improve cover crop selection and rotation strategies, avoid ineffective control measures and herbicide applications, and assess different pre- and post-emergence herbicide combinations.

This presentation is part of the Focus on Cotton series made available by the Plant Management Network and Cotton Incorporated. The Focus on Cotton series contains more than 50 webcasts on various aspects of cotton crop management, including agronomic practices, crop protection and ag engineering. The presentations are accessible online at any time.

The resource also features a newly improved Cotton Extension Search tool, where users can conveniently search for extension resources across all U.S. land-grant universities serving cotton producers.
